The Physician Amraoui spoke at the 10th National Cardiology Congress in Nouakchott, Mauritania, organized by the SMAC (Mauritanian Society of Cardiology), on the role of Telemonitoring in Africa.
She highlighted the importance of telecardiology and remote monitoring of cardiac rhythm disorders, as well as the promising prospects for the deployment and development of these technological advances in Africa.
Indeed, remote monitoring of implantable devices, including pacemakers, defibrillators, and implantable loop recorders, enables rapid diagnostic management of rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation, the most prevalent arrhythmia worldwide. Early diagnosis of arrhythmias allows for prompt implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions, thereby limiting associated comorbidities such as ischemic stroke.
Remote monitoring of cardiac implantable devices is strongly recommended by the European Society of Cardiology, the European Heart Rhythm Association, and the Heart Rhythm Society.
