The physician Amraoui had the opportunity to present clinical cases of diagnostic and therapeutic management of cardiac arrhythmias, particularly focusing on patients experiencing episodes of atrial fibrillation, during a continuing medical education session organized by a general practitioner association in Paris.

They discussed the various diagnostic options for detecting cardiac arrhythmias, especially in patients with a history of ischemic stroke.

One case, in particular, caught their attention, involving a 59-year-old patient experiencing significant fatigue and concentration difficulties. Brain MRI revealed numerous diffuse lesions likely caused by multiple micro-emboli, with an inconclusive etiological assessment. The patient underwent implantation of a loop recorder for continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring with remote telecardiology follow-up, aimed at detecting asymptomatic episodes of atrial fibrillation that could be causing cerebral emboli.

Remote rhythm monitoring revealed numerous asymptomatic episodes of atrial fibrillation.

Therapeutically, the patient subsequently underwent minimally invasive curative treatment for their arrhythmia, specifically ablation of atrial fibrillation. Rhythm monitoring did not detect any recurrence of the arrhythmia for several months, nor did it show any worsening of cerebral lesions.

These exchanges of experiences, part of the continuous medical education program, aim to provide patients with the most suitable individualized care pathway.
